what is coal and how is it made coal?

Coal is a black rock-like which is most of the time burned for heat it is made up of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen and and some sulphur. How it is formed is dead plant material builds up and makes peat, which is the first step. Then it is caked together with other sedimentary rock to make lignite. Then after more build up and heat and pressure it makes coal.
